Dim Sum Feng Shui

Dim Sum Feng Shui, 點心風水, is an important thing to consider. It is the practice of arranging plates of Dim Sum, to achieve harmony with one's eating environment.

Most times you go for Dim Sum, you will sit at a round table. If you order more than one of the same Dim Sum, do not place them beside each other, you need to balance the table, so as to achieve polarity.

If your table is larger, it may be equipped with a lazy suzan, or a glass turntable that allows diners to reach all the tasty morsels. As your waiter or waitress delivers steamers to the table, you can rotate the lazy susan so that they are placed where you would like them to go.

You need to balance the teapot (water) with the hot sauce (fire), so place them separate. Some people place hot sauce at the four corners of the table, but I think this is extreme.

Take into account bagua or 八卦, and you might want to arrange in groups of eight dishes, around the compass points.

Just like it is bad luck to cross your knife and fork in western culture, it is best to keep your chopsticks parallel when not in use. Some people have the used end pointing inwards, and some let the used end hang off the table. I often rest them on a plate.

Never stack your steamers more than three high, unless you want bad spirits to come into your life. They will cause all sorts of havoc, such as scramble your passwords, and software will stop working. The software developers who worked on windoze vista must have stacked their steamers too high and look what happened to that product.

I hope these simple points will allow you to arrange your Dim Sum with balance and harmony. If you have any more questions on the subject, please leave a comment below.

Balanced

Since applying these techniques, I can truly say that I am now in one of the happiest stages of my life and feel that I’m the closest I’ve ever come to being the person I’ve always wanted to be (and I know who that person is now). I clearly know what I want, and with that comes a real sense of inner peace. Each morning I get up and go for Dim Sum services, take some notes, review what I’ve accomplished, and each day I get closer to making my vision a reality. Thank you!

In optimizing our thoughts and energy flow,
I've found it useful to see it visually
as in-a clear mind is like a clean table,
waiting for Dim Sum to arrive,
where energy can flow easily

Our minds are the rooms where Dim Sum energy can flow,
through ourselves, to the world.

People who seem to be 'negative' in attitude
really just have clutter, whether ego
or like a used table in a Dim Sum restaurant
that simply needs to be cleaned.

In this way, we can see that everyone is inherently good
in their thoughts and behaviors,
but some simply need to clean things up.

Similarly, when we interact with others,
it helps to see a bit what Ha Gow energy they pass to us,
and see whether it balances the Siu Mai in us,
or whether it is an accumulated false/ego object
that they are carrying in their minds,
and know not to accept the false objects,
but to let the light flow through.

I have practiced Feng Shui for several years now and I actually came to the same conclusion about Dim Sum Feng Shui, all those things, the placement of dishes, art work, crystals, the direction of the restaurant, etc, make a difference. For example, if you are searching for love or want to improve your love life and add pink accents to your table, such as Ha Gow, get rid of old napkins to create new energy, and enhance your love section at your table the first thing that gets affected is your mind (your thoughts).

It works with everything, you put a chili sauce in your wealth section and whenever you taste the chili you think about creating wealth, whenever you see the chili you think about wealth.

Now I have also experienced the flow of energy when you arrange the table just so, but really don't you just feel better when you are looking at Dim Sum?
